Maison Valette

Maison Valette, led by Philippe Valette, is a highly respected estate in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, specifically in the villages of Chaintré, Leynes, and Vinzelles. The Valette family has been farming in this area for generations, with Philippe taking the reins in the late 1980s and steering the estate towards biodynamic practices. Maison Valette is known for producing some of the most distinctive Chardonnays in the Mâconnais.

Valette’s winemaking is characterized by long aging on the lees and a minimal intervention approach, avoiding the use of sulfur whenever possible. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and are often aged for several years before release, allowing them to develop deep complexity and a rich, textured mouthfeel. The extended lees contact imparts a signature depth and creaminess to the wines, which are known for their minerality, intensity, and ability to age beautifully.

Maison Valette’s vineyards are located in some of the best sites in the Mâconnais, an area known for its limestone-rich soils, which contribute to the wines' minerality and structure. The region's relatively warm climate, tempered by the cooling influences of the Saône River, allows for the full ripening of the Chardonnay grapes while retaining acidity and freshness. Valette’s dedication to biodynamic farming further enhances the expression of these terroirs, resulting in wines that are true reflections of their origin.
